The aim of AusTalk is to create a large corpus of audio-visual speech which will support speech science research and development with Australian English and facilitate the development of Australian speech science in phonetics and psycholinguistics, and speech technology applications – from telephony-based spoken dialogue systems and talking heads to hearing prostheses and aids for learning-impaired children to a range of security and forensic applications.
